Fault Location in DC Microgrids Based on a Multiple Capacitive Earthing Scheme

This article presents a new method for locating faults along feeders in direct current (dc) microgrid using multiple capacitive earthing scheme. During fault conditions, capacitors within the scheme are charging by transient currents that correlate with distance and resistance. Therefore, assessing response of during fault, to is estimated. The proposed utilizes instantaneous voltage measurements (obtained from feeder terminals capacitors) applied an analytical mathematical model faulted feeder. has been found accurately estimate position feeder, systematic evaluation carried out further scrutinize its performance under different loading scenarios highly resistive faults. In addition, practical feasibility have experimentally validated developing low-voltage laboratory prototype testing it series test conditions.
